Changelog

Every update.

A plain-language history of RABEX Browser for Android: what each release changed, how it works, and what is still being tested. RABEX is a public beta, so every entry says what has and has not been checked on a real phone.

  1. v1.0.237-beta · Latest · 2026-10-12

    A calmer, more consistent interface

This release polishes the everyday feel of RABEX, mainly the music player controls and navigation. It also includes everything from 1.0.236, which came out earlier the same day.

    Softer popups everywhere

Popup panels across the app now appear with a soft fade, so menus and dialogs feel like part of the same design instead of snapping onto the screen.

Equalizer and Sleep Timer in the 3-dot menu

The Equalizer and the Sleep Timer now sit in the 3-dot menu, so the playback tools you reach for are in one place.

Quick Next and Quick Last for the queue

Pick a track and send it to play next, or to the end of the queue, without rebuilding the whole queue.

Back button that goes back one step

Back now returns you one page at a time. Before, it could jump straight to the home screen and skip the pages in between.

    Clearer folders

Folders use new file-style icons that are easier to recognise at a glance.

    Fewer crashes, better colours

We also fixed crashes and colour problems found while testing.

Why there are two version numbers

1.0.237 has the same app content as 1.0.236. Only the version number changed, so phones that installed 1.0.236 see this as an update.

    Good to know

This is still a beta. Phone testing by the developer is pending, so this release has not been fully tested on a real device yet.

  2. v1.0.228-beta · 2026-10-11 (includes 1.0.227)

Search inside Settings, and update notices on your terms

Two changes that make everyday use easier: finding a setting faster, and deciding when to hear about an update.

    Settings search

Tap the search bar inside Settings and a compact search page opens in the app theme. Voice search brings you back to it. Your main Settings screen is unchanged. The search page is an extra popup, not a replacement.

    A refreshed music player

The music player has a refreshed look.

    Update notices you can postpone

You can choose Later on the update notice and see it again afterwards. A saved copy of the release details is used for that later notice only while it is no more than 12 hours old. If you choose Later or dismiss the notice, the app asks for that saved copy to be removed. Turning off update checks clears it the next time the checker runs.

    Good to know

Beta build. Device testing continues after release.

  3. v1.0.225-beta · 2026-10-11

    A startup fix

    A small, targeted release.

    Startup with no open tab

We fixed a startup problem that could happen when the browser had no current tab open. Same package and signing key, so updating keeps your settings and data. Nothing is reset or migrated.

    Good to know

Basic browsing, closing and reopening, and clean-install checks are not verified yet. The installer handoff problem and the timing of automatic update notices are not fixed in this build. Android still asks for your consent to install. Nothing installs silently.

  4. v1.0.224-beta · 2026-10-11

Smarter downloads, speed tools and clearer private mode

The largest feature release so far. A startup crash was reported for this version and is addressed in 1.0.225.

    Download names that make sense

Downloads now take their filename and type from the server response and a bounded check of the file's final bytes, when the old generic name is compatible. If the type is unknown we do not guess. Completed old .bin files are not renamed automatically.

    Speed & Data

A manually started download test gives a sustained speed estimate using Cloudflare, and readable counters show how much data the app has used. The test has no fixed data cap and can use hundreds of MB, so mobile data charges may apply.

    Clearer private mode

The private-mode indicator and status are clearer, and Private Space now has an explanation of what it does.

    More player and search tools

Newer player controls (without extra codecs) and local Settings Search and History helpers are included. FFmpeg codecs are not included.

    Optional update checks

While the app is open, it can check for new release details, normally at most once every 12 hours, and offer Update or Later. Downloading and installing always stay manual.

    Limited crash records

Crash records stay on your phone: at most five records, 4 KiB each and 16 KiB in total, pruned after 30 days at startup or the next write. They are left out of owner backups and restore.

    Good to know

Install and upgrade, native screens, file naming, player playback, permissions, Play Protect behaviour and network resume were not verified on a real device. The speed test targets about 9 seconds but is not a strict time or byte limit, and Cloudflare receives the connecting IP and the test requests. Crash retention depends on the clock and the next startup or write, and no secure erasure is promised. Not implemented: whole-device VPN, FFmpeg codecs, OCR, a RABEX-owned passkey system and full cloud sync.

  5. v1.0.207-beta · 2026-10-09 (includes 1.0.204 to 1.0.206)

A new look, in-app updates and stronger privacy controls

Three releases over one day: a new visual identity, the first in-app update checker, and several privacy and safety additions.

    A new RABEX look

New RABEX branding on the home screen, splash, About, URL bar and lock and PIN screens. The launcher has a new navy icon with adaptive and monochrome versions, and logos get a brighter glossy sheen that stays still when animations are reduced or off. Home has the curved wordmark, and search and speed-dial spacing is tighter.

Check for updates inside the app

Check for beta updates contacts rabex.in only when you tap Check. Nothing downloads or installs on its own. Update files are stored privately, and if a download is paused or interrupted the saved bytes are kept so it can resume. Before installing, the app checks the file's size, SHA-256 and compatibility, then opens Android's install prompt. Your installed app is not uninstalled. You can discard a saved update, after confirming.

    Separate Incognito storage

Incognito tabs use a separate WebView profile for cookies and site storage on supported Android System WebView versions.

    Control over typing suggestions

A new setting controls online typing suggestions in normal tabs. They stay on by default. Turning them off stops new requests, though a query already sent may still finish. Incognito suggestions stay off.

    Safer backups and reports

Preference backups leave out the app-lock and Private Space PIN verifiers, and restoring a backup keeps your existing PIN. Report attachments use temporary private cache rather than the public gallery where reporting is enabled.

    Vault password generator

In the unlocked vault editor you can generate a random 20-character password and see a local strength hint and a count of reused logins. This does not change passwords on sites and does not check for breaches. Passkeys and portable encrypted backup are not included.

    Connection safety labels

The current tab shows certificate and redirect evidence and URL signals with explained labels: SAFE, CAUTION, DANGEROUS or UNKNOWN. SAFE means basic HTTPS evidence only. It is not a reputation or malware verdict.

    Browser shortcuts

You can rename entries in the app list and request launcher shortcuts. These are browser shortcuts, not native web apps. Capturing a shortcut from a private tab is blocked.

    Good to know

None of this has been verified on a real Android device yet. Private-session isolation was checked in source only, older WebView versions may not support it (Incognito pages are blocked there), and cleanup can finish later. There is no anonymity or instant disk-wipe guarantee. The password tools, connection labels and shortcuts have not had an independent code audit. Installing and resuming a newer update still needs a real-device test. In-app feedback is not set up in this beta.

  6. v1.0.190-beta · 2026-10-08 (includes 1.0.188)

Site settings redesign and a better Desktop site

1.0.188 was the first public beta build. 1.0.190 followed with two improvements.

    Site settings, redesigned

Site settings has a new header, grouped controls, icons and switches. All existing actions are kept.

    Desktop site

Desktop site now asks websites for a 980 px wide layout and sends supported desktop browser hints. Turning it off restores the mobile layout.

    Good to know

Results vary by site and Android WebView version, and some sites ignore the request. Not yet checked on a real device, so expect rough edges. Feedback is unavailable in these builds.

  7. v1.0.153 and earlier

    Earlier builds

Before the public beta, with limited notes.

    1.0.149

Video view modes (List, Grid, Compact) with your choice saved. Downloads gain a Total Speed strip and compact progress rows. New focus style on the search field and a fix for the video back button.

    1.0.150

Page options (Desktop site, Read aloud, Auto-scroll) show ON or OFF. New incognito hat-and-glasses icon across controls.
